Bart Heirweg asked:

Located in the south of France, the Camargue is the largest river delta in western Europe. It is enclosed by two arms of RhÃ'ne and the Mediterranean Sea in the south. This huge area covering various habitats: swamps, lagoons, beaches, dunes, salt and fresh water. But perhaps the most interesting, the Camargue is also a very important refuge for migrating, breeding birds and wintering and today most of the area is protected and is transformed into a national nature reserve. In August my friend, my parents-in-law and I have left Belgium for a vacation of two weeks in Provence in France. We riseduto in a small chalet in the Luberon, a north-east of applying to 3 hours of the Camargue. Since this was essentially a celebration of family and always keep your best friend happy, I could just leave it alone for a few days and visit the Camargue on my own. Since I hadn 't had time to fully prepare a lot this holiday, I didn' t know much about what to expect from the area. Like most nature photographers like to photograph in the morning and evening, so I left my hotel room disgusting after only a few hours of sleep, on my first day of photography in Camargue.Since I didn 't knows the region, I spent most of that day looking for good photo opportunities for the next few days. Mas d 'The Agon, a small marsh, north of Vaccari ¨ s, it seemed a very good place to photograph the herons, egrets, terns and waders and I have decided to maintain that for the next morning. At about 5.30pm it was time to go the "Ornitologique Pont De Gau of Parc;, situated north-west of the Maries-de-la-Mer of Saintes. Pont De Gau is actually a park dell'uccello, he has put in cage birds, but every evening at about 6.30pm show a real place here. More flamingos, the national pride of the Camargue, gather from all over the area by feeding on krill that is thrown in small ponds. "Photographers, get ready to take the big shots to fly when these majestic birds fly in and land! "You see that these unknown flamingos hours allow you to come close, it was everywhere else in the Camargue, I found it difficult to approach a. Day two started early again. I left the camp in Saintes Maries to 4.30 to try my luck at Mas d 'Agon, but when I arrived felt as if World War 3 had just begun. The hunting season has started in France apparently photography that day so Mas d 'The Agon was unnecessary, there were birds to be seen. But, fortunately, on my way back to Saintes Maries, a black kite accessible compensated recover the waste of effort that morning. Later that day I decided to take a walk along the "Digue" banks, starting at the parking area to the east of the city. The walk seemed to be a good choice and has kept busy until sunset, fotografante the terns, gulls and flamingos in third day of Lagoons. The were my last in the Camargue and after another night of only a few hours of sleep, I headed back to Mas d 'Agon. It all seemed promising, the wind was down and found there were now hunting. It was still dark and accompanied by hundreds of mosquitoes, I have placed me off the edge of the marsh, covered in camouflage networks and Egrets and waders waiting to come near. It appeared to be a perfect morning, the sun has gone through the clouds and large and small Egrets and seagulls soon were operated only a few meters, allowing me to take the big shots. Later that morning a small Egret was resting so close to me that only a close-up shot of his head was possible. It is about moments like these that you feel a close connection with nature and is made all worth the effort. Although my stay at the Camargue was not prepared enough, soon came to realize that it really is a fantastic place for ornithologists. There is a good quantity of birds of different species to find and even if spring should be even better than the end of the self was satisfied with the results. Is definitely not the easiest place to photograph birds, but once you find your way around, the big reveal photographic opportunities. I found that small marshes and bays off the main natural reserves are more suitable for general photography, allowing you to get closer to the birds. But really, because there are birds everywhere, the Camargue is generally a great place for photography dell'uccello and that's exactly why I intend to refer here for the foreseeable future with a little more time on my hands.
